Goodwood FOS is a great motor racing festival. Based on the Goodwood estate, it features all sorts of motorsport disciplines, mostly popular for F1 drivers and cars, but usually the Le Mans winning car will be there, fresh and unclean from the 24hour race, plenty of sports cars, WSB/BSB, all having demo / timed runs up the hill. It’s esstentially a hill climb, up a narrow drive way from just before the Goodwood house, past the house to the top of the hill – not usually wide enough to forgive any driver mistakes! When these photos were taken, it was a 3 day event, it’s now 4, and I’m certain that STILL isn’t enough time to wander the paddocks, check out the hill and the rally stage (If you like rallying).

At the top of the hill, you have the rally stage which is run by Southern Car Club – It usually plays host world famous WRC drivers (past and present) and some amazing cars. I’d recommend if you want to check out the rally stage to dedicate a whole day up there, it is quite a walk (although there are shuttles, there’s usually a queue for them and in my experience, it was quicker to walk, but it was an exhausting walk and I was pretty fit back then). The walk / wait is well worth it! The rally stage gives you a taster of what it’s like to see these spectacular cars (without having to go deep into the forests), and sometimes it’ll be the only place to see these drivers.
